As the leaves change and autumn's embrace surrounds us, let's also change the narrative. On October 19, we invite you to come together for the inaugural National Brotherhood Day—a day dedicated to fostering bonds of brotherhood, love, and unity across our communities.
In today's fast-paced world, we sometimes forget the power of unity, connection, and shared purpose. Brotherhood isn't just about the familial bond; it's about the global family we belong to—regardless of race, religion, or region. It's about uplifting one another, understanding each other's stories, and standing shoulder to shoulder in the face of adversity.
Why National Brotherhood Day?
Every day, we see stories of division. But, there are equally as many stories of unity waiting to be told. Stories of neighbors helping neighbors, strangers becoming friends, and communities coming together for a greater cause. National Brotherhood Day aims to spotlight these moments and inspire more of them.
Spread the word.
Use #NationalBrotherhoodDay on social media. Share stories of brotherhood, unity, and love to inspire others.
Join us in this heartwarming initiative. Let's paint the world with the colors of brotherhood, drawing hearts closer and weaving a tapestry of unity that spans the globe. Together, we can create a world where love, unity, and brotherhood are celebrated, not just on October 19, but every day.
Let's make the first National Brotherhood Day unforgettable.
Celebrate. Connect. Contribute.
With hope and unity,
ONE LOVE
Our first Crowns and Cuts hair-care event took place in 2019, with 60 plus children in attendance. The children received several services including: hair washing/conditioning, braided styles, styling, haircuts, along with overall general maintenance tips. The event was completely booked, and several children without appointments were also able to receive services. While Crowns and Cuts was initially a one-time event, the turnout and response made it clear that the event was a necessity for the community, especially this particular demographic. As a result, we were asked to host another event a few months later.
The second Crowns and Cuts event was also a success. Unfortunately, as we were putting together our May 2020 event the pandemic hit and all activities and events were put on hold. In that downtime Congress along with several States implemented and passed the new " Crown Act" legislation, banning natural hair discrimination in the workplace and schools. The passing of the Crown Act was significant, it only validated what we already knew. Despite the pandemic delaying our event, the efforts to expand our reach and resources were fueled even more. Our Society as a whole is greater when children are equipped with hope, the self esteem to lead and confidence to achieve. Now that we have returned to some sense of normalcy, we are excited for the next event scheduled for December 2022.
Your support will help with our upcoming Foster Youth "Crowns and Cuts" Hair Care Event. We seek financial contributions to cover the cost for barbers, stylists, assistants, venue (venue accessories), swag bags (containing home hair-care maintenance and other goodies), food, entertainment, maintenance, & administration. We hope to reach our goal; additional funding will go toward future workshops and events.
Thank you for taking the time to read our campaign story and for your kind pledges.
Lastly, please don't forget to share this campaign page with your friends, family, work colleagues, the wider community, and your social media followers. Remember, word of mouth is still a powerful tool, so be sure to spread the word.
